WATCH | USports hockey player breaks the hockey code and demonstrates exactly why hockey needs fighting
The playoffs are well underway in the Canadian U Sports. Hockey is an extremely intense and emotional game, which often leads to things getting out of hand.
A movement has been going around the hockey sphere lately suggesting that fighting should be banned from hockey. Today, we were able to witness the very reason why hockey should remain in the game.
In the U Sports semis opposing UPEI to Alberta, a player was driving down the wing absolutely ran the goaltender. Since fighting is prohibited in this league no player initiated a fight, but it's surely a play that should've led to a much bigger brawl.
A player that openly runs the goaltender like this should've corrected to the point where he'd think twice about potentially hurting the big guy between the pipes.
Except for a little face shove, the forward barely had anything and while a little scrum happened in front of the net, it was a situation that required the gloves to be dropped.
