WOW: Statement from Jim Benning that's not aging well
When GM's complete trades, more often then not, they believe they came out ahead.
You can only truly judge a trade a few years after it's been completed. In July 2021 Jim Benning made a trade with the Coyotes that still haunts the Canucks salary cap to this day.
To Vancouver:
- Conor Garland
- Oliver Ekman-Larsson
To Arizona
- Jay Beagle
- Antoine Roussel
- Loui Eriksson
- 2021 1st round pick (Dylan Guenther)
- 2022 3rd round pick (Hunter Haight)
- 2023 7th round pick
Following the trade, here's the statement he made regarding Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
In his 4 last seasons with the Coyotes, he averaged over 0.5 points per game. Since arriving with the Canucks 0.39. He has failed to take responsibilities from Hughes and even worst he takes 8.8% of the team's cap space and has a full No-Movement clause until the end of 2027. Is it fair to say that Benning really missed the target on this one? How do you rate this trade so far?
