The Golden Knights, the Capitals, the Avalanche, the Flames, Utah HC, the Kraken, the Predators and the Islanders all used the waiver wire as 23 players have been made available to all 32 teams.
The former first rounder Grigori Denisenko is the highest draft pick available. The 15th overall pick in the 2018 has yet to establish himself in the NHL despite being very productive in the AHL as he scored 20 goals and 56 points in 65 outings.
Egor Sokolov, a highly touted prospect drafted in the 2nd round of the 2020 draft also finds himself in a similar situation. He's established himself as a 20 goalscorer in the AHL accomplishing the feat over the last three seasons, the 13 NHL games he played in wasn't enough to convince a team he deserved a shot and he hasn't been any better during the training camps.
The 32 GMs will have until 2 ET on the 29th to place their claim. Seeing the players that have found their way on there, it would be a surprise to see Patrik Allvin place a claim given that the Canucks are already tight with the salary cap and have plenty of forwards.
Perhaps if a puck-moving defenceman made his way to the waiver wire Allvin could be tempted, but there hasn't been anything too interesting thus far.
