Young hockey player passes away in tragic accident: Three seriously injured
A tragic fire at a cottage in Prince Edward Island over the weekend has claimed the life of a hockey player, while three others are recovering from injuries.
The local hockey community is in mourning following the incident, which occurred during a weekend trip. The fire, which broke out early Monday morning, left the cottage "fully engulfed in flames," according to a news release from Cavendish police. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
"Three people who escaped the fire were injured, one with serious injuries. Once the fire was extinguished by the fire departments, human remains of one person were discovered inside.
The scene was held by the RCMP and the investigation is ongoing."

Although police have not released names, the Cole Harbour Colts of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League (NSJHL) confirmed the death of one of their team members. The Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Hockey League also confirmed that all four individuals involved were former members of their team.
The deceased player, Latimer, hailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and played hockey across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick since the 2021-22 season. His teams included East Hants, Brookfield, Truro, Grand Falls, and Cole Harbour.
"Your Capstone Colts are absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of Noah Latimer. In Noah's short time with the Colts he made an immediate impact on the organization, being the ultimate teammate and even received playoff MVP award for the Colts. Our thoughts and prayers are with Noah's family, teammates and friends at this very difficult time. Latsy will be sincerely missed by so many and always remembered,"

Noah Latimer played parts of 2 seasons with the Bearcats in 2021/22 and 2022/23.
Rest easy 22, forever in our hearts. ❤️🖤 The local hockey community is deeply affected by this loss. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Latimer, and our thoughts are with the three other players recovering from their injuries.
