MAJOR UPDATE | NHL issues comments on Eberle's hit that led to Cogliano breaking his neck
The news has been going around for a few hours now, Andrew Cogliano took a hit from Jordan Eberle in the numbers. Eberle was assessed a 2min minor penalty on the play, Cogliano left the game briefly and made his way back to the bench. They only confirmed late yesterday that the Avs' warrior had sustained a broken neck and would be out indefinitely.
Here's the hit in question:

This series will be heading into game 7 tonight since Nathan Mackinnon and the Avs pulled through and managed the win, but as confirmed by Elliotte Friedman, they will be playing this one with one less soldier.
Where this sequence truly gets embarrassing for the league is when NHL Senior VP of Communications John Dellapina (a contact for Department of Player Safety requests) was asked to comment on the hit:
''We don't comment on plays on which we don't assess supplemental discipline.''
This comes as shocking news since the NHL hasn't been shying away from suspension for dirty hits, but Jordan Eberle and the Kraken are off the hook while the Avs lose another piece.
The NHL needs to protect its players and this should've been an opportunity for them to step up, but they failed once more.
