MAJOR | Bruins captain Brad Marchand takes leave of absence
Bruins' captain Brad Marchand will be taking a short leave of absence from the team as he deals with a death in the family.
Marchand's grandmother Frances O'Leary passed away last Friday, and Marchand has returned home to Nova Scotia to attend services.
Steve Conroy reports that Marchand isn't expected to miss any games, likely to be suiting up on Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres.
The news of O'Leary's passing was made public on Saturday morning, but grief certainly didn't slow down Marchand as the B's captain scored the game winning goal against Toronto on Saturday and followed up with a hat trick against the Blue Jackets on Sunday.
Condolences to Brad Marchand and his family during this difficult time.
