A former Vancouver Canucks goaltender who has been playing quite well this season has earned himself a contract extension for the 2024-25 NHL campaign.

On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins announced that they've agreed to terms on one-year, two-way contract extension worth $775,000 with goaltender Michael DiPietro.

"Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 20, that the team has signed goaltender Michael DiPietro to a one-year, two-way contract extension through the 2024-25 season with an NHL cap hit of $775,000." The team said in a statement.

The 24-year-old was traded to the Boston Bruins, along with the rights to Jonathan Myrenberg, in October 2022 in exchange for forward Jack Studnicka, who is no longer with the Canucks. During DiPietro's time with the Vancouver Canucks organization, he appeared in three NHL games where he had an 0-2-0 record, a 5.28 goals against average and a .771 save percentage.

So far this season, DiPietro has appeared in 26 games for Boston's American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins, where he has a record of 17-8-0 with a 2.52 goals against average, a .917 save percentage and four shutouts.
