After rumours have swirled about a potential reunion with the Edmonton Oilers, Tyson Barrie has found his way back to Alberta, but this time with the Calgary Flames.

The 33-year old defenceman has remained unsigned late into the offseason after a very disappointing season with the Nashville Predators notching just 15 points in 41 games and routinely being healthy scratched by the Preds, and failing to attain a guaranteed contract he is settling for a PTO with the Flames.

The veteran defenceman has been mentioned as a potential depth player of interest for the Vancouver Canucks, and while he's still free to sign with any team, the Calgary Flames are likely to have the inside track if he performs admirably on his try out.

The Victoria, B.C native has struggled after a move to Nashville that saw Mattias Ekholm head to Edmonton, but he is only one year removed from a 55 point season split between Nashville and Edmonton.

Barrie was well liked in the Oilers dressing room, leading some to believe a low cost reunion could be on the table for the two sides.

For now he'll fight for a depth spot and contract with the Flames, or elsewhere throughout the NHL.
