An Edmonton Oilers veteran will be sitting out Game 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final on Monday night as they look to tie the series up at one game a piece.
The Edmonton Oilers took to the ice in South Florida on Monday morning to prepare for Game 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final against the Panthers and it appears that a change will be made on the blueline.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Vincent Desharnais will be coming into the line-up for the first time since Game 3 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars. He was with Darnell Nurse on the third pairing during line rushes at the morning skate.
Seravalli added that coming out of the line-up to make room for Vincent Desharnais is 30-year-old Cody Ceci.
"At morning skate, #Oilers have Darnell Nurse with Vinny Desharnais ahead of Game 2.

Appears Cody Ceci may be a healthy scratch." Seravalli said.
While it looks like the Oilers defensive group is sorted for Game 2, there was a notable absence among the forwards at the morning skate as according to Mark Spector, Evander Kane was not on the ice.
Spector says that Kane not being at the morning skate is normal, which likely means he'll be in the line-up tonight. Kane may be dealing with an injury as Spector pointed out he never sat on the bench during Game 1, which could signal that whatever is ailing him, won't allow him to sit without being in pain.
"No Kane at practice, which is normal. One thing, source tells me Kane never (or very seldom) sat on the bench in Game 1. Whatever his injury, sitting doesn't work for him. He's walking the line between courageous and ineffective, 1 pt in 8 games." Spector said.
