LATEST | Former first-round pick is reportedly leaving the NHL
According to a Russian source on the website, VK.com, former Dallas Stars first-round pick Denis Gurianov is leaving the National Hockey League after parts of six seasons.
"CSKA is negotiating with Denis Gurianov to sign a contract." VK.com said.
Gurianov, 26, was selected 12th overall in 2015 by the Stars and would play parts of six seasons in Dallas, helping them reach the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, before being traded to Montreal for Evgenii Dadonov in February. In 280 career games, Gurianov has 111 points (51 goals, 60 assists).
The Tolyatti native was a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, but the Montreal Canadiens decided to not issue him a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
His KHL contract isn't officially signed yet and there are NHL teams still poking around who interested in his services. But it appears that his time in North America is done, for now.
