LATEST | Terrible news strikes the former Canuck Luke Schenn
On Wednesday, Nashville Predators defenceman and former Vancouver Canuck, Luke Schenn received some news he hoped not to hear.
The Predators announced that Schenn, who hasn't played since the team's opening game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, will miss the next four to six weeks with a lower-body injury.
"Predators defenseman Luke Schenn will miss 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury." The team said in a statement on X.
Schenn, 33, signed a three-year contract with the Nashville Predators on July 1st, which sees him earn $2.75 million per season. After parts of two seasons with the Canucks, the Saskatoon native was dealt to Toronto ahead of the NHL's trade deadline in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 draft.
Schenn was likely to play a vital role for the Nashville Predators on the third pair and the penalty kill, so having him miss the next month to six weeks is certainly not ideal, and it'll be interesting to see how the team will adapt to his loss.
His first game back in Vancouver was set for October 31st, but due to injury, he'll have to wait until next season to return to British Columbia to face his former team.
