The Nashville Predators lost their 30th game of the 2024-25 season last night against the Florida Panthers and afterwards, former Vancouver Canuck Luke Schenn didn't hold back.

Expectations were high in Nashville this season after a big summer which included the departure of Kiefer Sherwood to the Vancouver Canucks and trading Ryan McDonagh to Tampa Bay, while signing Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei as free agents.

Former Vancouver Canuck Luke Schenn calls out teammates

After that big summer, many expected the Nashville Predators to take a big step forward in the tough Central Division, but the opposite happened and as of Wednesday morning, they sit 30th in the NHL standings with just 20 wins in 57 games.
To make matters worse, the Predators are 31st in the NHL in goals for with 147, one ahead of the Anaheim Ducks and after signing Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, who combined for 82 goals last season, it's shocking to say the least.
In their last three games, the Predators have just three goals - two against Colorado on Saturday and one last night vs Florida - and after their loss against the defending Stanley Cup champions, Luke Schenn called out his teammates for the lack of scoring.
"I don't think I've ever been a part of a group like this that literally can't score a goal." Schenn said according to Emma Lingan of The Hockey News
Amid their tough season, there could be some changes coming at the trade deadline next Friday, with pending unrestricted free agent Gustav Nyqvist and veteran forward Ryan O'Reilly among the names that could be moved.
As for Luke Schenn, he has one year remaining on his contract following the 2024-25 season with a cap hit of $2.75 million and on Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that teams have talked about the potential about uniting him with his brother Brayden and if that were to happen, it would be the first time they were on the same team since 2013-2016 in Philadelphia.
This season is a write off for Nashville and next year, they'll look to get back to being a competitive hockey team, potentially with a new top prospect in the fold, such as James Hagens, Matthew Schaefer or Michael Misa, depending on where they pick in the upcoming draft.
Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz currently has three first-round picks in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and it'll be interesting to see if he's able to add a fourth between now and 12 pm PT on March 7th.
