As the NHL trade deadline nears closer and closer, all NHL teams are in a scramble in order to upgrade their roster, which is no different for the Detroit Red Wings who look to the Vancouver Canucks for answers.

The deadline for NHL clubs to make these drastic moves will be on March 7th, and with the amount of players that may not re-sign a contract, they will most likely be trade candidates.

Detroit Red Wings pushing to land Filip Hronek from the Vancouver Canucks?

Ever since the Detroit Red Wings made the change to bring in Todd McLellan as their new head coach a quarter through the season, they have become one of the hottest teams going right now.
As they make a push for the playoffs, general manager Steve Yzerman is looking to fill some of the holes that are glaring chinks in their armor.
It has been reported by NHL Insider Frank Seravalli that they are looking for a defenseman and due to their $14 million in cap space, they can acquire some big names.

I think they could really use a defenseman. Will they do it? And go out and find a difference maker, preferably one that isn't a rental that they could keep for a while. I think that would make a ton of sense, man. They could really use someone like a Filip Hronek right now.

«I do think you're going to see an aggressive Steve Yzerman try and reward his group for the turnaround that they've displayed since Christmas when they made their coaching change on boxing day, bringing in Todd McLellan.»

-Frank Seravalli

In reality, the Vancouver Canucks are already too thin on their back end up moving away from their #2 defenseman in Flip Hronek.
He is essential to their playoff hopes as well as plays with Quinn Hughes who is balanced perfectly with having him as a partner.
By trading him, it would only create more problems for the Canucks as the market for solid d-men is quite scarce.
