Major: Huge development for the Canucks on waivers: Four players claimed
The waiver wire has been quite busy the last few days as final preparations for the NHL season is in full swing for most teams.
The Canucks sent down two players on assignment to the AHL; Jack Studnicka and Christian Wolanin both cleared waivers and will begin their season with the Abbotsford Canucks.
Four players from yesterday's waivers were claimed:
The Ottawa Senators reclaimed Lassi Thompson from the Anaheim Ducks after losing him earlier in the month. The Senators now have the ability to send him to the minors without any waiver implications.
The Colorado Avalanche acquired goaltender, Ivan Prosvetov, from the Arizona Coyotes. Prosvetov played 7 NHL games last year, spending most of his season with the Tucson Roadrunners.
The Calgary Flames claimed A.J Greer from the Boston Bruins. Greer is a solid bottom-six player. He recorded 12 points and was a +9 in 61 games as a Bruin last year.
The Pittsburgh Penguins picked up defenseman, John Ludvig, from the Florida Panthers. The 23-year-old played 54 games with the Charlotte Checkers, recording 17 points with a +18 on the year.
The 2023-2024 NHL season begins tomorrow as there are three scheduled games.
