The Flyers have gone down the fool rebuild road, and they've been selling their top assets for the better parts of the last two years. Their top pick from the 2011 Draft, Sean Couturier, was meant to be one of the rebuild's cornerstones, but the latest development may drastically change his and the Flyers' plans.

DROWNED IN INTERVENTIONS AND INJURIES?

Couturier, 30, took part in a total of 31 games since the beginning of 2021. The large format centerman has been dealing with many injuries, and now he may face a life-altering decision. After he came back to the game, Couturier played two games before going down with an injury, and Tortorella's update is quite concerning:

'Flyers HC John Tortorella says Sean Couturier will either play tonight or need career-ending surgery. Decision to be made during warmups''

Couturier was selected 8th overall in 2011 and had lived up to his potential thus far, breaking the 30-goal plateau twice. The do-it-all type of centerman was also awarded the Frank J. Selke in 2019-2020 when he led the NHL in face-off percentages and scored 59 points in 69 games.

By the looks of it, Couturier could be returning to the doctors, but he may not return this time. We hoped the 30-year-old could return to it and avoid the injury reserve.
