MAJOR | Seattle Kraken facing multi-million dollar lawsuit
The Seattle Kraken have been slammed with a multi-million dollar lawsuit relating to trademark rights violations in the design of their 2024 Winter Classic jerseys.
The lawsuit, filed by entrepreneur Paul Kim against Kraken ownership, states that the jerseys incorporate the defunct Seattle Metropolitans colours and design, which Kim purchased the rights to in 2014. According to reports, Kraken representatives had informed Kim that the team would stray away from a Metropolitans-inspired design, but what they released for their Winter Classic game this January was in Kim's eyes nearly identical.
He had this to say regarding the team's alternate threads:
Seattle Metropolitans was shocked that the Kraken copied its famous trademarks in a blatant attempt to create a false association with its brand and confuse the public, including the great Seattle hockey fans.
The Kraken declined to comment and has yet to respond in court.
