MAJOR | Toronto Maple Leafs make a shocking move: Starting netminder on waivers
After a poor season between the pipes so far, the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a big decision regarding one of their goaltenders.
On Sunday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs have placed goaltender Ilya Samsonov on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.
"Ilya Samsonov is on waivers" Friedman said.
In 15 games this season, the Magnitogorsk native has a record of 5-2-6 with a 3.94 goals against average, an .862 save percentage and one shutout.
In addition to Samsonov, the Buffalo Sabres have placed a goaltender of their own on the waiver wire - Eric Comrie.
Comrie, 28, has appeared in seven games for the Sabres this season where he has a 1-5-0 record along with a 4.01 goals against average and an .863 save percentage.
