This offseason will be a valuable chance for Elias Pettersson to regroup after a challenging year in which he tallied just 45 points. A solid summer training regimen could make a big difference for him heading into the 2025-26 season.

Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson still has a lot to offer despite a very discouraging season with injuries and feud with JT Miller

Pettersson hasn't seen game action since March 22, when he exited early during a matchup with the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
His first year under a new contract carrying an $11.6 million average annual value ended up being the most underwhelming season of his seven-year NHL career.
Rick Dhaliwal had this to say on X...
Brisson on Elias Pettersson's season : He had a tough summer, he couldn't train at the level he wanted to due to an injury. He is a better player and a proud player and still young and lots to offer.
When asked about what Pettersson needs to do to get back on track, head coach Rick Tocchet emphasized that the process has to begin in the offseason.
"I think he'll tell you this, that his preparation has to get better. There's no secret, if you want to be a great player, you have to prepare. Almost an obsessive type of preparation. And I think he got behind the 8-ball early, then the expectations come, and there is a little bit of struggle with the team, and then he could never gain traction." -Tocchet

Tocchet also added that Pettersson's practice habits need improvement.
"You know me, I'm an honest guy, and he's got to practise better. "Those are things he's learning. And do I think he will do those things? I do. I really do. I think I can bank on him taking this information, going away for four months, and make sure he has a plan. And the plan has to change, I don't think he can train the same way." -Tocchet

Hopefully Pettersson can bounce back to the same player he was during his 2022-23 season, tallying a career-high 102 points in 80 games.
