Shah says "I think the Canucks would love to add another guy that puts the puck in the net..."
The Canucks finished middle of the pack in goals for last season. The team could definitely use some more scoring as they traded away
Bo Horvat, who was their top goal-scorer.
The main issue with getting a deal done is that the Canucks are in a cap crunch situation. According to CapFriendly, the Canucks are currently operating at -4.9 million dollars and even when factoring in LTIR players, they will not break a million dollars of cap space. This is important because goal scorers are very valuable assets. This means that in order to get a goal-scorer, it will have to be an upgrade on a player currently on the roster with salary in order to make this trade possible, likely meaning Canucks picks/prospects will also be involved.
The Canucks still have time to make a big splash. The question is whether a trade is possible and necessary for the team to be successful. Allvin will be tasked with making that decision.
