LATEST | NHL highlights the newest Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes in recent release
The NHL highlighted Canucks captain Quinn Hughes with three posts directed at the star defenseman's newest honour.
The First post has a picture of Hughes in his first season with the Canucks compared to a photo of Hughes holding his jersey with the "C" yesterday. The caption of the post is "Just how fast the night changes. 🥲"
The second post shows eight total pictures of Hughes. The pictures depict his rise to captaincy. The post contains images from when Hughes was a kid to the current day, where he is the captain of the Vancouver Canucks. The center is captioned "Entering his Captain era."
Both of these posts show just how far Hughes has come. Hughes will be entering his 5th entire NHL season. The defenseman has been a massive part of the team since his first entire season, where he registered 53 points in 68 games. In the following three seasons, Hughes played in 210 games, submitting 18 goals and 167 assists for 185 points.
The final post shows a quote from NHL Network and TSN analyst Mike Johnson praising Hughes' offensive ability:
"He's got an elite hockey brain...forget what position he plays...he shows it on a nightly basis."
The high praise is well deserved for Hughes, whose offensive stats have been at the top of the NHL since entering the NHL. Last season, Hughes took it to another level, recording 69 assists, which was 2nd most by a defenseman.
Hughes is making 7.85 million dollars until the 2026-27 season. The Canucks will be hoping to see more offensive magic by their captain when their season starts on Oct 11 in Vancouver.
