Canucks have added another defenseman: Prospect signed to his entry-level deal
The Canucks have signed their 3rd round pick from the 2023 draft, Sawyer Mynio to an entry-level contract.
Mynio played in his second WHL season with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The 18-year-old defenceman is known to be a strong defensive talent who has the ability to be a solid puck-mover as well. He racked up 5 goals and 31 points, with a +50 on the season.
The Thunderbirds went on to win the WHL finals, with Mynio having a huge part of the team's success. Mynio had 4 points and was a +7, while playing great defensively. The Thunderbirds also played in memorial cup where they just lost in the finals.
Mynio's success lead to the Canucks drafting him with their 3rd draft choice, in the 3rd round, 89th overall. The Canucks hope that he can become a strong and responsible defenceman who can play for their team in the next few seasons.
Mynio has joined their training camp roster and will likely start his 3rd season in the WHL back with the Thunderbirds. He will be expected to step up for the team next year!
