The 2023-24 National Hockey League season is just under two months away and fans of every team are beginning to get excited about what the new campaign may bring.

With players coming and going, we often see players change jersey numbers and that's what will happen with Canucks forward Jack Studnicka and defenceman Akito Hirose.

On Sunday evening, it was revealed that Studnicka will be changing from 18 to 23, which was worn the past few seasons by Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Studnicka wore number 23 during his time with the Boston Bruins and in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals.

As for Akito Hirose, who appeared in seven games with the Canucks last season after finishing his final year of college, he'll be switching from 36 to number 41, which was last worn during the 2021-22 season by goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

It's going to be interesting to see what roles both players will play during the 2023-24 season. Hirose will more than likely be in the American Hockey League with the Abbotsford Canucks, while Studnicka will be competing for a bottom-six role in training camp in September.
