There really has not been a lot to smile about during this 2024-2025 injury riddled and lack of production Vancouver Canucks season, but one player that has been a bright light in a dark year has been centerman Pius Suter.
What is a fair contract for Pius Suter?
As it stand right now, Suter has 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points in 77 games, showing massive improvement from last season where he only netted 14 goals and 15 assists.
Now that he showcased he can be an elite goal scorer in the NHL, he is set to get a major pay raise this offseason, it just depends if it is with the Canucks or not.
It was discussed on the Sekeres and Price show that they have heard the number to keep Suter is $5 million x 4 or 5 years, which seems like a huge bargain for his production, but that number can go a lot higher now.
Would you sign Pius Suter at $5 million x 4 or 5 years?
Obviously there is some risk involved giving him a big contract as he has performed uncharacteristically this season.
The best option would be to give him a bridge deal at a good number to see if he can repeat these numbers for 1-2 more season, the only thing is you can risk losing him to another club if someone else decides to award him the contract he is currently after.
