LATEST | Canucks to pursue talented BC native: Trade Proposal emerges
It's no secret that Patrik Allvin and the Canucks have been on the lookout to improve their current line-up. Many insiders have reported that they had been actively working the phone to find a right-handed defenseman despite losing the Ethan Bear derby.
CANUCKS LOOKING TO ACQUIRE A HOME-GROWN PRODUCT?
Recently made a healthy scratch, the Canucks have previously been linked to the Coquitlam, BC Native, Dante Fabbro. The 25-year-old had just made a healthy scratch, and the trade talks in his regard have spiked since then.
The description of his skillset fits into the type of addition the Canucks are looking to add. Young, with lots of untapped potential, some time with Adam Foote could help him use the full extent of his talent:
''Dante Fabbro is a dependable two-way defenseman with high offensive upside. He plays with poise and makes mature, high-percentage decisions under pressure. Ultimately, he is proactive with his body and stick and does everything right to interrupt passing lanes and win back possession. With the puck on his stick, he is mobile at an elite level and can direct plays like a quarterback. He has a hard and accurate release on his shot, which he gets off quickly and on-net. All-in-all, a complete defenseman that plays a refined game at both ends of the ice. (Curtis Joe, EP 2015)''
Through 25 games this year, Fabbro has managed 7 points and a +4 rating, but a change of scenery might spark his production.
TRADE PROPOSAL ARISES FROM THE CANUCKS TO THE PREDATORS?
A trade proposal has been circulating suggesting that the Canucks could call the Preds and offer a prospect along with a pick for Fabbro. Here's what it could look like:
TO VANCOUVER
- Dante Fabbro
TO NASHVILLE
- Danila Klimovich
- 2024 3rd Round Selection VAN
Fabbro was the Predators' 1st Round Selection in 2016, and his already an NHL veteran with a few years under his belt. Klimovich was the Canucks' 2nd Round Pick in 2022 and remains a project at that point. Given the team's current state, needs, and timeline, it makes way more sense to have Fabbro rather than Klimovich.
