On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed one of their own pending free agents, William Nylander, to a massive eight-year contract worth $11.5 million per season and with Elias Pettersson out of contract at the end of the season, this could potential drive up his price.

One of those who believes that Pettersson's next contract could be worth more than William Nylander is TSN's Craig Button.

Button was a guest on 'Donnie & Dhali' on Monday and said that he believes Elias Pettersson will be looking at $12 million per season on his next contract, whenever he decides to sign with the Canucks.

"I don't think there is any question Elias Pettersson is worth $12 million dollars.." Button said.

Pettersson's play over the last couple of seasons has certainly helped his cause and has driven up the price to re-sign him. After a 100+ point season in 2022-23 and him being well on his way there during the current campaign, there's no doubt that the Swedish forward has shown the Canucks organization that he's deserving of a high annual average value on his next contract and that with him being on the roster, he'll bring success throughout his tenure in Vancouver and potentially, one day, a Stanley Cup.
