LATEST | Elias Pettersson gets off to hot start with new team
Earlier this week, it was announced that Vancouver Canucks prospect Elias Pettersson was being loaned by his Swedish Hockey League club Orebro HK to second-division club Vasteras IK for the 2023-24 season.
The reason behind the loan was to get Pettersson more playing time and a couple of days ago, he made his debut with Vasteras IK in HockeyAllsvenskan against IF Bjorkloven.
Pettersson's debut with Vasteras IK couldn't have gone any better as, despite playing on the third defensive pairing, he went on to record a pair of assists. However, IF Bjorkloven went on to score four unanswered goals to win the game by a score of 5 to 2.
As the HockeyAllsvenskan season goes on, Pettersson will be given more ice time and responsibilities, which will no doubt help with his development. Along with playing for Vasteras IK, Pettersson will play a massive role for Sweden on home ice at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Elias Pettersson and Vasteras IK are in action on Friday afternoon against Mora IK.
