Former NHL defenceman Shane O'Brien spent two seasons with the Canucks between 2008 and 2010, where he amassed a whopping 275 penalty minutes in 141 games.

Recently, O'Brien was on the 'Missin Curfew' podcast and shared a hilarious story about trying to pick up an 'ice girl' while playing against Calgary, but was told off by head coach Alain Vigneault.

"It was retro night at the Saddledome," O'Brien said. "I jump out for the TV timeout, and she's scraping the ice, and I come over and say, 'Hey hey, we're staying the night, are you gonna go to Cowboys?' She said, 'Yeah, I'll be at Cowboys after.' I said, Okay, I'll meet you there.' Whatever. Good."

He added, "I skate back, and as I skate back, AV obviously had the iso-cam on me and he's like, 'OB, keep your f*cking head in the game!' And I'm like, 'Yeah, I got it.' And he's like, 'Are you f*cking serious? Let's go here.'"

At the time of O'Brien trying to pick up the 'ice girl', the Canucks were in front, but then Calgary came back and took the lead, which worried the Port Hope native. Luckily for O'Brien, the Sedin twins stepped up and helped the Canucks win the game. O'Brien said that after the game, he went to Cowboys and met up with the 'ice girl', saying "the rest is history".
