"This feels very exciting, a wonderful challenge for me and now the timing was right. Alcén has already given me a good picture of the club since the first contact. I come here with enormous energy for the mission." Benn said.
He added, "I am incredibly proud to have the chance to represent such a long-established association as Brynas IF and I also like the club's clear goal to get back to the SHL, that journey triggers me."
Brynas IF is one of the most decorated and historic franchises in all of Swedish hockey. They were founded in 1912 and have won 13 Le Mat Trophies, which is handed out annually to the winner of the Swedish Hockey League playoffs, with their most recent title coming in 2012.
Benn, 36, spent parts of two seasons in Vancouver during 2019-20 and 2020-21, putting up 16 points (two goals, 14 assists), 26 penalty minutes and was a minus-two in 75 games.
