LATEST | Former Canucks top prospect done in the NHL: Confirms the Canucks' waste
After an unsuccessful professional tryout contract with the Arizona Coyotes and frankly, a disappointing time in North America, former Vancouver Canucks top prospect Olli Juolevi is heading to Europe.
On Thursday, it was announced that Juolevi has agreed to terms on a short-term contract until the November international break with Timra IK of the Swedish Hockey League.
"It is really fun to come to Timra IK, I have heard very good things about the team and the club. I am looking forward to getting on site and contributing what I can to help the team win matches" Juolevi said.
Juolevi, 25, was selected fifth overall by the Canucks in 2016, one pick ahead of Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk and two spots ahead of Clayton Keller. With Juolevi officially leaving North America, it's more than fair to call him a bust and that it was not a good pick from General Manager Jim Benning.
Last season, the Helsinki native played for the American Hockey League's San Diego Gulls where he put up 14 points (one goal, 13 assist), 22 penalty minutes and was a minus-14.
Do you think Juolevi will ever return to North America? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
