Identified by Rick Tocchet as a diamond in the rough and recipient of the team's Unsung Hero Award during the 2022-2023 season, Dakota Joshua has been everything the Canucks could've hoped for him to be when Patrik Allvin inked him as a free agent.

HOW MUCH IS THE PENDING UFA WORTH?

Joshua has entered the last year of 2 years, a $1.65M contract, and his play with the Canucks has only been getting better. Under Tocchet's guidance, Joshua has been blooming into a very effective third-line checker, and the line he's been a part of with Teddy Blueger and Conor Garland has been essential to the Canucks' success this season.

Jeff Paterson was on Sekeres and Price and placed his bid as to what Joshua's next deal may look like:

''@patersonjeff on #Canucks' Dakota Joshua & his worth on his next deal:

"He's one of the league leaders in hits...I don't think this is just another replacement player...3 years, is he a $1.5M guy?"

The forward had 11 goals and 23 points in 79 NHL games last year, along with a -16 differential. He's now improved these numbers into what may be Rick Tocchet's promised land; after 31 games this season, he's averaging numbers that would get him to 18 goals and 31 points on a full 82-game calendar.

Joshua's play has legitimately since he first became a Canuck. If he inked a three-year deal with the team, he'd be locked in for ages 28 to 31, meaning he'd be with the team for what should be his prime years. Is he worth locking up that much money?
