LATEST | Health update on Ilya Mikheyev: It's not looking good on the Canucks
Ilya Mikheyev was shut down at the middle of the 2022-2023 season with a knee injury. The winger needed surgery and a lengthy recovery in order to be back at a 100% for the team's next campaign.
A few days ago, his agent raised concern when he appeared on a radio show and wasn't certain that his client would be back for the team's training camp. Now, Rick Dhaliwal added to that information when he was on Donnie and Dhali yesterday:
"Not sure right now if pre-season games are on the menu for Ilya Mikheyev.."
@DhaliwalSports
updated the health of #Canucks Forward Ilya Mikheyev earlier in the show.
The Canucks chose to play Mikheyev in hopes that they could turn the season around, while they were fully aware that he would require surgery and a lengthy recovery period.
His injury couldn't get any worse, but the longer they kept him out, the later he'd be ready to go. Now the forward may not be ready to play the team's pre-season's game which makes it hard for him to be at a 100% for the season opener. Mikheyev hasn't played since January 27th of 2023.
