SIGNING ALERT | Young stud signs sixty-four million extension after one season
The trend is switching in the NHL and the recent contract the Senators inked the young stud Jake Sanderson to is the proof.
Sanderson was the Senators' 2020 5th overall pick and joined the NHL last year after two dominant seasons in the NCAA. The young Defenseman played great through his first season and collected 32 points through 77 games:
''Sanderszn just got a whole lot longer!! 😏
The #Sens have signed defenceman Jake Sanderson to an 8-year extension!''
After only one NHL season, it's proof that the new tendency is to pay based on what the players are expected to deliver and not what they've already shown. It could pay off like it did when the Devils extended Jack Hughes, or it could end up being one of the worst contracts ever signed.
