LATEST | Insider drops a bombshell regarding Chris Tanev and the Canucks
Chris Tanev grew up in the Vancouver Canucks' organization, and they played a significant factor in making the player he is today. A member of the organization from 2010-2020, it came as a shock when he left for the Calgary Flames via free agency.
INSIDER DROPS A BOMBSHELL REGARDING THE TEAM'S FORMER NUMBER 8
Even Quinn Hughes had remorse about his partner leaving. Today, Rick Dhaliwal looked back on when Tanev left and dropped quite a piece of information on it. As everyone is well aware, Tanev will be hitting free agency at the end of the summer (unless the Flames re-sign him, of course).
Not only did Dhaliwal state the Canucks should be interested, but he also added that when he hit free agency, the veteran defenceman had instructed his agent to get a deal done with the Canucks. Why the deal didn't happen remains unknown, but it appears that Tanev still holds Vancouver high on his list of preferred destinations:
Tanev's currently on a contract that pays him an annual $4.5M, now soon to be 34; If he considered signing a deal at a lesser cap hit, could he be a decent option to replace Tyler Myers on the right side of the team's bottom four?
