LATEST | An announcement regarding Jonathan Lekkermaki has been made
Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki is having a heck of a season debut. Twelve games in, he now has 10 points and seven goals, which puts him first among goal scorers and 11th for points.
An announcement regarding one of the goals he scored has just been made, as it was ranked the 3rd best play of the week in the SHL:
Forty-three seconds into the SHL's tweet, Lekkerimaki makes a skilled play opening up space, where he drives around his defender, beating him to the middle of the ice. Lekkermaki then rips a shot over the glove, giving Orebro HK a 2-1 lead.
The 19-year-old already has seven goals in 12 games, has an elite shot and has shown it in his first year with Orebro HK.
Interestingly, the 2nd ranked play was made by Axel Sandin Pellikka. Sandin Pellikka was drafted by the Red Wings using the first-round pick Vancouver traded to get Filip Hronek. The 17th pick in the 2023 draft already has five goals this season.
At the 27-second mark of the SHL's tweet, Sandin Pellikka shows off his incredible skating ability as he bursts into the offensive zone. Sandin Pellikka then shoots the top shelf on the short side, beating the goalie.
The Canucks have to be happy with Lekkerimaki's production so far and will hope he can continue to develop his game as the season goes on.
