The Vancouver Canucks are looking to renovate not Rogers Arena, rather a practice facility.

Vancouver has struggled to make permanent home to a practice facility, having a deal with Burnaby 8 Rinks fall through in 2010 over renovation costs. Now, they will look to renovate an existing facility rather than build their own.

GM Jim Rutherford spoke about the ongoing situation:

You asked me what I've learned since I've been here I learned that there's no land in Vancouver and if there is, yeah, it's costly.

Whenever Rogers Arena has been unavailable for use, the team typically heads to UBC for practice and off-ice training though it's far from a permanent solution.

Rutherford feels confident that the Canucks will have a plan in place by the end of the season. For now, everything points toward the Canucks renovating an already existing facility rather than building a new one.

Rick Tocchet called out the team's ownership on the subject earlier this season and the Aquillini's have yet to take action on this matter.
