LATEST | Tocchet addresses Nils Hoglander's emergence as a top forward
Nils Hoglander has arrived, and his coach has taken notice.
While the 22 year old spent most of last season in the AHL, he has become one of Vancouver's most effective forwards this season.
Recently earning a promotion to the top six, Rick Tocchet says Hoglander's tenacity and effort level are what make him stand out.
I think his forechecking ability really helps (Miller) and (Boeser),
Tocchet said.
He's a dog on a bone type of player.
Tocchet said he's been impressed by Hoglander's defensive play, and compared his ability to protect the puck as a smaller player to Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis.
Tocchet and the Canucks have been disappointed by the play of Andrei Kuzmenko, but surprise standouts like Sam Lafferty and the young Nils Hoglander have been a boon to the team's offense.
