LATEST | NHL issues press release regarding Quinn Hughes
Ever since the Canucks used their 7th overall pick in 2018 to draft Quinn Hughes, he's been a star. As soon as he joined the team, his offensive impact was immediate and now he's developed his defensive game and matured enough to be taken into consideration for the Norris Trophy.
Today, the NHL issued a statement via their public relations Twitter accounts regarding the Canucks' defenseman:
'THIS DATE IN 2020: Quinn Hughes recorded an assist in his fifth career #StanleyCup Playoffs contest to help the @Canucks earn a 5-2 win in Game 1 of their First Round series against the Blues. #NHLStats''
In his only NHL playoffs appearance, the Canucks' 43 compiled 16 points in 17 games, as a rookie. The Canucks have since then failed to make it to the spring dance. The hopes are that the Nucks remedy to that situation as soon as the 2024 playoffs.
Performing when the stakes are at their highest is a great sign of leadership and accountability. That year, J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson led the team with 18 points. Can that trio lead the team to the playoffs once again?
