LATEST | NHL makes a statement regarding Canucks captain Quinn Hughes
After blowing a 3-0 lead, the Vancouver Canucks worked their way back to a 6-4 victory on Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs to retake the top spot in the National Hockey League standings.
Six Canucks players finished the game with multi-point efforts including Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller and Quinn Hughes, the latter of whom made some history in the win.
In a post on their social media accounts, NHL Public Relations made a statement regarding Quinn Hughes and his three-assist night. With his multi-assist outing, Hughes becomes the sixth defenceman in NHL history to record seven three-assist games in a single season. He joins Paul Coffey, Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Phil Housley and Roman Josi.
"Quinn Hughes became the sixth defenceman in NHL history with seven three-assist games in a single season, joining Paul Coffey (6x), Bobby Orr (5x), Ray Bourque (3x), Phil Housley and Roman Josi."
Hughes' three assists on Saturday night brought him up to 56 points (11 goals, 45 assists), 24 penalty minutes and is a plus-34 in 46 games this season.
The 24-year-old is well on his way to breaking his career-high in points, which is 76 that he set during the 2022-23 campaign. It'll be interesting to see if Hughes will be able to reach at least the 90-point mark this year.
