Newly extended Canucks president Jim Rutherford is happy with his current roster, and doesn't seem to regret moving out former players.

The 74 year old was on Sportsnet 650 on Friday discussing the team's success and plans leading into the March 8 trade deadline, and implied the mix of players the team has iced in the past have not been able to piece together a true contending squad.

There were past times in Vancouver we had good players but we didn't have a good TEAM. Now we have a good team,
Rutherford said.

Rutherford and Allvin have not been shy about making changes to the Canucks roster since taking over in 2021 and 2022 respectively, most notably trading Bo Horvat last season and later acquiring Filip Hronek.

The president said pointedly that the team would like to add a top six forward, but that they're not eager to move anyone off their current roster - happy with the mix they've assembled.
