LATEST | Quinn Hughes' Captainship announcement: The Leaders' reaction says it all
The rumours had already been leaked last week that it was only a matter of time before the Canucks formally named Quinn Hughes as the Franchise's 15th captain.
Hughes, 23, will be the youngest acting captain in the NHL and despite it all, it was shown that even the older veterans agreed with the team's choice. During the Press Conference, Rick Tocchet opened up on the veteran's reaction, and it says a whole lot about how they perceive Hughes in the locker room:
''You know you made a great decision when the guys (JT, Petey & Demko) were excited when we told them." Also stressed that he likes that Quinn isn't afraid to speak his mind and say something when he needs to.''
The team's three other main leaders in, J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, an Thatcher Demko we're all there to support their newly acquainted captain, and everybody took notice:
This shows great unity amongst the team's top leaders and top voices. Allvin and Tocchet mentioned that any of these three guys could've taken the team's reign and were glad they'd be the team's core moving into their next phase.
Allvin finally sounded like a GM whose plan was coming through and Hughes as the new leader turns the page onto another chapter for the Canucks' retooling.
