LATEST | Rick Tocchet makes bold statements on Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes: That's quite impressive
The Canucks are off to a hot start, things we haven't witnessed for years in Vancouver. The leaders have taken their place, and they took the next step with their game.
TOCCHET PRAISES HIS TWO CORE PLAYERS
Tocchet was on After Hours and was asked to comment on Hughes and Pettersson's outings since the season began. Tocchet made a bold statement on Elias Pettersson's up-and-coming progression and even put him atop the list of players he's played with or coached throughout his time in the NHL.
Tocchet also addressed that Hughes wasn't recognized as much as he deserved, mainly due to his size. Tocchet was extremely confident, however, that he found different ways to be a very effective defender:
''Rick Tocchet with nothing but praise for Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes on #AfterHours with @LouDeBrusk and @ScottOak👏'' The Canucks now have one of the top two-way centermen in the league in Pettersson, an elite puck-moving defenseman who also excels at defending and a goaltender who's found his way back on top of his game. The big three are usually the makings of a contender's core. They're obviously in need of few other additions, but can we finally say that the Canucks are on the right track?
