The Canucks made a deal today, sending Jack Rathbone and 23-year-old minor league player Karel Plasek in an agreement to the Penguins in exchange for Mark Friedman and offensive prospect Ty Glover.
Glover is a 6'3 undrafted center. The 23-year-old played in 51 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins; he would score seven goals and 12 points. The Penguins coach, J.D. Forest, was impressed with Glover's play, calling Glover" the most improved player" last season.
Forest said,"...He made a lot of steps; he might have been our most improved player throughout the season. He'ss got a lot of raw skills; you just need to kind of mould it a bit"
Glover has previously spent two seasons with the Western Michigan University Broncos, where he was known for a net-front presence. He recorded 13 goals and 32 points in 63 games.
The Canucks will hope some time in Abbotsford will help continue his development. The Canucks could use a big center; we will see if Glover can prove he can be that guy.
