Ideally, the Canucks main priority would be to add a top-six forward, with them being linked to a few players in recent weeks including Jake Guentzel of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Elias Lindholm of the Calgary Flames.
But on Friday, in an article on The Athletic, Thomas Drance and Harman Dayal suggested that Vancouver could be looking for a puck moving defenceman before the deadline and mentioned a trio of names, one of whom is a former Canuck.
Dermott, 27, is currently in his first season with the Arizona Coyotes where he has three points (one goal, two assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a minus-12 in 32 games. He spent parts of two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, tallying three points in 28 games.
Lindstrom, a native of Ostervala, Sweden, was claimed off waivers by the Anaheim Ducks from the Montreal Canadiens earlier this month. In 18 games between the two teams, he's put up four points (three goals, one assist), six penalty minutes and is a plus-one.
Brannstrom, a former first-round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights, was a key piece to the Mark Stone trade in 2019, but hasn't lived up to expectations in Ottawa thus far. In 38 games this season, the 24-year-old has recorded 11 points (two goals, nine assists), 24 penalty minutes and is a plus-four.
All three of these players would be solid additions to the Vancouver Canucks lineup. Who do you think of the three would be the best fit? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
