After a 10-1 blowout over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, the Vancouver Canucks returned home with their head held high as they looked to win their eighth game of the season on Saturday against the Dallas Stars.

It was going to be a tough test for Rick Tocchet's group, facing a Dallas Stars team that came into the night leading the Central Division with a 6-2-1 record and only allowing 24 goals in those nine games.

Thanks to a 27-save shutout from Thatcher Demko, along with goals from Elias Pettersson and Pius Suter, the Vancouver Canucks won by a score of 2-0 and the victory set a new franchise record.

"8-2-1 is the Canucks best record after 11 games in franchise history" Canucks Access said in an Instagram story following the game.

The biggest reason the Canucks have such an impressive record to start the year is thanks to their big players showing up and preforming like they should be.

Elias Pettersson is currently tied for the NHL lead in points with Jack Hughes, while Quinn Hughes leads all defenceman in the league in points. J.T. Miller is also inside the top-ten in points with 16 so far this season.

In between the pipes, Thatcher Demko has been lights out and currently leads the National Hockey League in wins with six and is fourth in save percentage with .947 and fifth in goals against average (GAA) with 1.55.

It's an exciting time for fans of the Vancouver Canucks and it's going to be interesting to see how the team does over the next few weeks and months as they try to remain as one of the top-three teams in the Pacific Division in hopes of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
