Rick Tocchet calls out certain players in his post game interview
Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet spoke about his team's conditioning after they faced off against the Kraken on Thursday night. The Canucks had mostly depth players battling for a spot and didn't have the outcome they wanted with a 3-1 loss.
Tocchet went straight to the point and called out confident guys:
"...It's a little bit of a wake-up call for a couple guys...this is a tough building to play, we gotta win some battles. A couple of guys were okay...some of the guys were a little rusty and had a tough time with some of the passes...I'd still like to see us win more battles..."
Tocchet has called out
Dakota Joshua for his conditioning in training camp, expecting more from him. Tocchet through Joshua in a back-to-back situation. He moved Joshua up on a line with Garland and Suter in this game.
Tocchet then proceeded to recognize the notable efforts Dakota Joshua had given in the team's last two pre-season games:
"...I thought Dakota was trying to play a heavy game; I thought he won some battles down low..."
Tocchet continued on Joshua, "...he's gotta get himself in shape because he can be a big part of our team. We need some big guys who can play...so I thought that he moved his feet (and) won some battles in the corner..."
Tocchet had a few positives, the biggest being a solid game from the Cole-Hronek pairing. He also liked the effort from Phil Di Giuseppe. As for the rest of the team, he wants to continue seeing them win more battles. The Canucks continue their preseason on Saturday against the Oilers.
