The 6'0 Blueger spent last season split between two teams. He spent 45 games with the Penguins and 18 with the Golden Knights. In the 63 games he played in, Blueger recorded 16 points before becoming a free agent and joining the Canucks.
The Athletic wrote article about the Canucks training camp (Above), in the article it sepaks to Bluegers unique path to the NHL. Blueger, a Latvian native, watched reruns of the Penguins-Wild game. The commentators mentioned that Crosby had returned to Minnesota, where he played for Shattuck St-Mary's, a prep school in Minnesota. Blueger was intrigued and at the age of 14 moved from Latvia to Minnesota to play for Shattuck St-Mary.
Shattuck St-Mary has had many NHL Stars play apart of their program. To name a few, Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Zach Parise, Drew Stafford, Ryan Malone Clayton Keller etc.
Incredibly Blueger would finish his career with the same exact points Crosby had; 162. It only took Blueger 111 games putting him at 1.46 points-per-game, 26th in team history. To make things even more incredible, Blueger would be drafted by the penguins and then play with Crosby, a very cool story, to say the least.
As Teddy Blueger continues to progress his career with the Canucks, the Pittsburgh Penguins 2nd round pick will always remember the game that changed his life forever.
