The Vancouver Canucks may have found their return for superstar centre J.T. Miller as a new trade proposal has emerged between the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs.
In an interview with @garymasonglobe of The Globe and Mail, Canucks GM Jim Rutherford confirms there is a locker room rift, and doesn't see a clear way of moving forward with the current group.
Toronto Maple Leafs trade proposal for Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller is not going to cut it
The ongoing soap opera that is the Vancouver Canucks has taken over hokey headlines, where even the President Jim Rutherford believes there is no solution that will have both of these players on the same team in the next coming months.
"Everybody has worked on it, including the parties involved. But it only gets resolved for a short period of time and then it festers again. So it certainly appears like there's not a good solution that would keep this group together."
But the fact of the matter is, with Millers age, no-move clause and lack of production this season, the trade offers that are coming though have been low ball deals.
A recent proposal by NHL insider Nick Kypreos and Justine Bourne of Sportsnet have followed suit with an outrageous return for Miller, this time highlighting a defenseman of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
They proposed sending over Morgan Reilly from the Maple Leafs to the Canucks for J.T. Miller amid the rumors that the superstar centre is getting progressively harder to move, limiting Patrik Allvin's leverage.
"Would you knock on the door of Jim Rutherford and flip Morgan for JT Miller?
Only half a million off on cap, relatively the same age, and they have the same amount on their deal. Does it make the Leafs better?
Morgan gets to go home. He'll say no to a lot of teams, but going home to BC could make them one of those teams...Vancouver needs to get J.T. Miller out of that locker room." - Nick Kypreos
Even with Rielly having a down year offensively and defensively, he would be a major upgrade to the Canucks D-core.
But, the main limiting factor is that the Canucks are going to demand a centre in return to fill the hole left by Miller, and if that is not apart of the deal, there is no chance it gets done.
