A San Jose Sharks' legend is set to hang up his skates and call it a career.

The San Jose Sharks are set to hold a press conference on Tuesday to announce that captain Logan Couture is unable to continue his playing career due to injury.

Frank Seravalli took to X Monday afternoon to break the news.
#sjsharks and captain Logan Couture are scheduled to hold a press conference Tuesday to announce that Couture is unable to continue his playing career as a result of injury.

Tough way to end an incredible career. Couture led playoffs (in separate years) in goals, assists and points.
Cory Wilkins of Daily Faceoff writes that Couture has been sidelined since February 2024 with a lingering groin injury and has not played at all this season.
His last appearance came on January 31 of the 2023-24 campaign against the Pacific Division rival Anaheim Ducks. That season, he was limited to just six games, recording one assist and four penalty minutes.
Originally selected ninth overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2007 NHL Draft, the 36-year-old Guelph, Ontario native spent parts of 15 seasons with the franchise.
Over the course of 933 career games, Couture tallied 323 goals and 378 assists for 701 points, ranking fourth all-time in Sharks franchise scoring. Notably, he was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team in 2010-11 after an impressive debut season in which he recorded 56 points in 79 games.
"In September 2019, Couture was named the 10th captain in Sharks' franchise history." -Wilkins
A three-time 30-goal scorer, Couture reached a career-high 70 points during the 2018-19 season, recording 27 goals and 43 assists over 81 games. His offensive prowess extended into the postseason as well, where he posted 48 goals and 53 assists for 101 points across 116 playoff games.
In 2016, Couture led all skaters in playoff scoring with 30 points, 10 goals and 20 assists in 24 games, as he helped lead the Sharks to their first-ever Stanley Cup Final, where they fell in six hard-fought games to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He continued his postseason dominance in 2019, leading the league with 14 goals as San Jose reached the Western Conference Final, ultimately falling to the St. Louis Blues in six games.
"Couture has two years remaining on an eight-year contract that carries an $8-million annual average value." -Wilkins

It's a very sad day for not only Sharks' fans, but for the entire hockey world.
