While it still seems more likely that J.T. Miller is the one that'll be traded out of Vancouver, talks have appeared to intensify over the last week on Elias Pettersson.
Carolina opted to go in a different direction, acquiring Finnish star Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche, putting an end to their efforts to land Elias Pettersson, but it appears that another Eastern Conference team has entered the mix and reportedly has a ton of interest in the Canucks forward.
Buffalo Sabres reportedly have interest in Vancouver Canucks' Elias Pettersson
During the Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared that while there are other teams in the mix, one of those that has shown a lot of interest in Elias Pettersson is the Buffalo Sabres.
"I think those talks continue, and I believe that one of the teams that has really shown a lot of interest is Buffalo. There are others, but the Sabres are definitely in there." Friedman said.
The cost to acquire Elias Pettersson, despite his poor season, is likely going to be quite high given that he's not a rental, he's in his prime and will turn this around one way or another.
Some options that Patrik Allvin could ask for in return in an Elias Pettersson trade with the Buffalo Sabres include defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Dylan Cozens, but it's unclear at this time if Kevyn Adams is willing to part with those two players before the deadline.
