A Tragic Loss for the Hockey Community as Star Player Passes Away at 29- Years-Old
The hockey world is once again in morning following the sad announcement as 29-year-old semi-pro hockey star Johnny Bonta has tragically passed away.
Johnny Bonta's team, the AAA semi-pro American men's senior ice hockey league Toledo Mobsters confirmed the tragic news on Friday.
Toledo Mobsters Confirm the Passing of Johnny Bonta
The Mobsters took to social media to put out a heartbreaking tribute and commemoration to describe how special of a human being and hockey player he was.
On behalf of the Toledo Mobsters Hockey Club it is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Johnny Bonta #13, #8. Johnny was not only a valued, talented, player on our team, he was a friend, and family to our team and the organization.
We will miss you Johnny! Your family, friends, teammates are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
RIP on the pond in heaven Johnny.

Bonta was a superstar in the APHL, putting up ridiculous numbers.
In just 12 games with the Toledo Mobsters this season, he scored a c crazy 42 points before his death.
Johnny Bonta's parents named him John Bonta and raised him alongside his brother, Jacob.
His life was tragically cut short at the age of 29 on January 23, 2025.
His brother left playing hockey and pursued a career as a proven marketing and sales expert.
By the reaction of his team and family, his untimely passing will leave a major impact on the entire Toledo, Ohio community.
